🕉️ Understanding Ayurveda & What We Do

Dive deeper into the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda and understand our holistic approach to healing

The Sacred Science of Life

Ayurveda is considered a divine science, given to humanity as a gift of healing and nourishment. Like a mother's milk naturally provides everything a child needs, Ayurveda offers complete wisdom for maintaining health and treating disease.

Divine Origins

According to ancient texts, Ayurveda descended from the heavens when human suffering from illness began. Lord Dhanwantari, the divine physician, emerged during the legendary churning of the cosmic ocean, carrying the nectar of immortality to bestow health and healing upon all living beings.

Core Philosophy

Microcosm & Macrocosm

"As is the universe, so is the human body"

Ayurveda recognizes that humans are a miniature reflection of the greater cosmos. All elements present in nature exist within us, creating a dynamic relationship between our internal environment and the external world.

The Eight Branches of Ayurveda

Ayurveda is a comprehensive medical system studied through eight specialized divisions:

1. Kayachikitsa - Internal Medicine
2. Shalakya Tantra - Head & Neck (ENT, Ophthalmology)
3. Shalya Tantra - Surgery
4. Agada Tantra - Toxicology & Forensic Medicine
5. Bhuta Vidya - Psychiatry & Psychology
6. Kaumara Bhritya - Pediatrics & Gynecology
7. Rasayana - Rejuvenation & Anti-aging
8. Vajikarana - Reproductive Health & Vitality

Constitutional Framework

The Three Doshas (Biological Energies)

Every individual is composed of three fundamental energies:

Vata - The Energy of Movement

Controls circulation, breathing, nervous system
Governs all bodily movements and communication

Pitta - The Energy of Transformation

Manages digestion, metabolism, body temperature
Controls all biochemical processes

Kapha - The Energy of Structure

Maintains body structure, immunity, lubrication
Provides stability and strength

Seven Tissue Systems (Sapta Dhatus)

1. Rasa - Plasma and lymph
2. Rakta - Blood and circulation
3. Mamsa - Muscle tissue
4. Meda - Adipose (fat) tissue
5. Asthi - Bone and cartilage
6. Majja - Nervous tissue and bone marrow
7. Shukra - Reproductive tissue

Three Waste Products (Malas)

Purisha - Solid waste
Mutra - Liquid waste
Sweda - Perspiration

Ojas - The Essence of Immunity

Ojas represents the refined essence of all tissues, serving as the foundation of physical strength, mental clarity, and spiritual vitality.

Mind-Body-Spirit Connection

The Three Pillars of Health

Ayurveda recognizes three interconnected aspects of human existence:

1. Body (Sharira) - Physical structure and functions
2. Mind (Manas) - Mental and emotional processes
3. Soul (Atma) - Spiritual consciousness
Three Mental Qualities (Manas Gunas)
Sattva - Clarity, peace, wisdom

Promotes mental balance and spiritual growth

Rajas - Activity, passion, restlessness

Drives action but can create agitation

Tamas - Inertia, darkness, ignorance

Provides rest but can lead to stagnation

Important: The food we consume directly influences these mental qualities, making diet a crucial factor in mental health.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Here are answers to common questions about Ayurveda and our services to help you make informed decisions about your health.

Ayurveda is the Ancient Indian Science of Life dating back to 5000 BC. It is a system which teaches harmonious living with nature through a balanced lifestyle of food and activities. It is a HOLISTIC science which addresses issues related to the BODY, MIND and SOUL. The main aim of Ayurveda is "TO MAINTAIN THE HEALTH OF A HEALTHY INDIVIDUAL AND TREAT THE DISORDERS OF AN UNHEALTHY INDIVIDUAL"

Ayurveda believes that everything in the universe is made up of FIVE ELEMENTS, called as the PANCHA MAHA BHUTAS. They are - Aakash, Vayu, Agni, Jala and Prithvi Mahabhuta. These are represented in the body as VATA, PITTA and KAPHA. Ayurveda sees the body as a micro representation of the Cosmos and therefore the factors that influence the environment have similar effects on the body.

Ayurveda is useful in a range of diseases - Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Paralysis, Sciatica, Frozen Shoulder, Cervical and Lumbar Disc Problems, All Skin conditions especially Eczema & Psoriasis, Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension, Obesity, High Cholesterol Levels, Thyroid Disorders, Menstrual Problems, Male and Female Infertility, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, PCOD, Piles, Fistula-in-Ano, Fissure-in-Ano, Urinary Stones, Prostate Enlargement, Hair problems, and All Cosmetic problems.

Traditional and classically prepared ayurvedic medicines are safe. Quality variation is a reality and therefore one has to be aware and alert. Make sure you ask your doctor about the quality of the medicine being prescribed.

Not necessarily. Generally the trend is to showcase Ayurveda as a SPA treatment and thus the costs are high. Traditional and Authentic Ayurveda treatments are not as expensive as Spa and Resort charges.

No, this is a very common misunderstanding. The results are dependent on the stage of the disease. The earlier the treatment is initiated the better the results. TRADITIONAL & AUTHENTIC PANCHAKARMA and medicinal treatments will show excellent benefits within a week to ten days. Chronic diseases will certainly need more time to be taken care of.

Yes. Ayurveda advises seasonal panchakarma regimen for healthy individuals to detox their bodies and maintain health.

It depends on the condition that one is suffering from. Generally, qualified Ayurvedic physicians will not stop modern medications for conditions like Diabetes, Hypertension, Thyroid Disorders, Cholesterol disturbances, Cardiac medicines etc. Please beware of any ayurvedic physician who asks you to stop these medications abruptly.

Ideally, one amongst the five procedures is selected as per the health issue of an individual. The minimum duration of any of the five procedures is 8 days. Basti procedure can be administered for 8, 16 or 30 days at a stretch. Nasya procedure too can be administered for 8, 14 or 21 days at a stretch. After undergoing one of the Panchakarma procedures a rest period of double the duration is advised.

Ayurveda believes that we are born of food. Imbalance in Vata, Pitta and Kapha are directly related to imbalances in the diet and result in manifestation of a particular disease. The intensity of the disease process is influenced by the degree of imbalance in dietary choices. That is why, dietary regulation plays an integral part of the treatment in Ayurveda.
